Gaye is a courageous lady who deserves all of our love and admiration. Thank you Gaye for sharing some of your life's stories with us.
I married the summer after graduation. We moved way out west to Van Horn, Texas, actually Lobo, Texas, a God forsaken
place.. My husband and I had two children, Cody, and Kelly. This marriage ended in divorce.
I moved back to Uvalde and my children and I lived with my mother. I worked at Uvalde Memorial Hospital for years. Then went to work for the Uvalde school system and worked there until I retired.
I married Sonny Merritt and we had a son Jay. We divorced. I have two grandchildren. I am now living at Amistad nursing home and have been here for about 10 years.

The picture shown here with Judy Allen Berry is in Houston at a party for one of Judy's customers. Lots of fun.
I made several trips with Judy to Ruidoso, New Mexico. She would not let me smoke in her suburban, so I had to make her make many pottie stops so I could smoke. Made a long trip even longer.
Judy talked me into going tubing on the Nueces river. She insisted I get on a tube and float, but the river was swift and of course I flipped and hit a rock and cracked my tail bone (that was friend abuse don't you think?). Judy really did feel bad about that, I sure rubbed it in though.
I went with Judy one time to take a truck and trailer to another ranch where they were baling hay. It was supposed to rain. We had to hurry to miss the rain. After the men loaded the hay we started back to the other ranch to get the hay in the barn. We stopped at a store to get snacks and get drinks out of the ice chest in the back of the truck. Also I needed to smoke. I had just climbed into the back of the truck to get a drink, when Judy came running out of the store saying "hurry Gaye its starting to rain". Sooo I was hurrying and slipped and fell out of the truck onto the ground.. Judy said "don't drop those drinks".
Judy and I have had alot of fun together over the years and remain good friends.
