More than 100 people (59 were 1966 graduates) attended all or part of the Uvalde High School 40 year class reunion the week-end of September 15th and 16th in Uvalde and Concan.
1966 UHS graduates met at Nancy and Blaine Bennett’s home on Friday night to get reacquainted with old friends. Saturday morning some of the men played golf while other ex-students met for breakfast and then took a tour of the current Uvalde Junior High School which was their high school.
On Saturday afternoon the 1966 graduates and their friends met at the home of John and Mary Tom Buchanan where they continued to share high school memories as well as catch up on forty years of life experiences.
After the group picture was taken, they enjoyed a beef and chicken fajita dinner catered by Neal’s Cafe. The reunion continued with a dance at Neal’s dance floor with music provided by DJ Jon Garcia.
Wylie Awards were given to various class members for various reasons – none of which were very valid but were enjoyed by all as Sumner Hunter kept the crowd entertained.
The turnout was great and everyone who attended had a good time; however, the classmates that were not able to attend were missed and it is hoped that they will be able to make it to the next one. Class President Bob Lester encourages contact by those members whose addresses were not known.
