Dear UHS Alumni,
I want to extend to all
of you a most sincere greeting and welcome. For many of us a lot of water has gone under that
ole Frio River Bridge but the rocks of our wonderful foundations in Uvalde and the Uvalde schools
have been steadfast and it is indeed wonderful that we can re-unite.
My sincere thanks are extended to Gary Heyen and Mel Glauberg for their
conception and implementation of the idea of both the Alumni Association and the Association
website. I also want to express appreciation to the five webmasters for the classes that are
currently represented: Joe Templer for '56, Ernest Franke for '57, Quin McWhirter for '58, Gary Heyen
for '59, and Sue Helveston for '60. I certainly look forward to additional ex-students
and graduates to discover and be led to the association and the website. We have enormous
potential and I am convinced we can do great things for the Uvalde school system, which is our
primary mission, particularly in this day and time of financial hardships.
I am looking forward to an active and productive term as Chairman of the
association, particularly in respect to the increase in membership and income. However, I can't
do it alone and I earnestly beg for your participation and recommendations as to ideas to
consider. We ALL have something to contribute.
Meanwhile, let me plead with you to communicate to your fellow classmates,
either from your own class or others, and tell them about the website and the association.
I look forward to hearing from each of you.
